Happy Belated Valentines Day!

I made a couple of Valentine's Day cards for my boyfriend this year, and I thought I would share them on here! Now as a rule, I'm not a fan of Valentines Day - its pretty much a money maker and a holiday to make all sorts of people feel a bit crappy. But I think its ok to make a little home-made card/gift for somebody you like, just to show you care...
So heres the first one I made, a Middle Earth-themed card!

And heres the original sketch for the idea:

I then made a second illustration, which was to fix to the back of the first, but I made a stupid miscalculation so the pieces wouldn't fit together! So this is just a second little jokey card I made to do with Gandalf and his love of baguettes. (Its sort of an in-joke - baguette sounds like Bag End...yeah, hard to explain!)

So there we go! Two little illustrations! I really enjoyed working on these, I used a new mini watercolour set I received for my birthday and quite liked the limitation of colour I forced myself to use! Plus, I just love Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit, so drawing myself and my boyfriend as little hobbits was awesome!

Birthday Cake Parade

I like making cake. And I think those around me have gathered this. (Having forced my home made cakes upon them at various opportunities). So for my birthday last week, a couple of people decided to make me some cake in return! And I thought I would just quickly share them on here!

The first cake I was to receive was a 'Spirited Away' themed cake made by my sister and her boyfriend. It was pretty epic.

Its the character 'No-Face' spewing up the contents of his stomach, which is fortunately for me, a whole load of penny sweets! Whee! Seeing as I can't find any videos specically of No-Face, here is a trailer to the film instead:

My next cake was actually a Terry's Chocolate Orange, which I was slightly confused by...

I then found that my Auntie and Uncle had attempted to make me Chocolate Orange Cake, but it had failed rather miserably and was now sitting in their back garden. I asked if I could get a photo of the poor cake with a candle in it, anyways!

So then, after all that, my Auntie and Uncle made me ANOTHER cake (which was very kind of them)! A little old chocolate raspberry number!

So there we go! I received an enormous amount of cake for my birthday! Woo mama! It was pretty awesome, I gotta say!

Hopefully I'll be doing a wee blog post gushing about some manga that I own, before I go off to the land that created them for a 10-day trip! Woo! Exciting!
