Thank you card - I passed my driving test!

I made a thank you card for the Best Driving Instructor Ever to thank her for helping me to pass my test last week!!
I decided to take a phrase that my instructor is known to say a lot and make a decorated version of it for the card.

The card was quite fun and relaxing to make, I hope my instructor understands the joke! The card's decorations are sort of similar to the Harry Potter print that is currently available in my shop. (Pluggedy plug).

Belated St Andrews Day Flash Animation

Once again, St Andrews Day has been and gone and I forgot to post up screenshots of the annual crappy Flash animation I make for my boyfriend every year (as you can guess, his name is Andrew).
Every year, to celebrate St Andrews Day I send my boyfriend an atrocious and appalling Flash animation featuring himself and several "famous" Andrews dancing around to an Andrew-themed song. Well, having done this tradition for 7 or 8 years now, I've started to run out of famous Andrews, so this year I decided to not even attempt a St Andrews Day link (making it an even crappier Flash animation with no real point) and themed it on Pokemon. Cause Pokemon is cool. Yeah.

I've really outdone myself in the crappiness of this animation...

Happy Belated St Andrews Day, everyone!

Bride & Groom Cuddly Toy Hearts

I recently tried my hand at some sewing again, which I know can sometimes turn out horrific and a monster against humankind but THIS time it was ok!
We have had a good old marriage in the family and I decided to alter a couple of my cuddly toy hearts to give to the bride and groom as a little commemorative present!

I added a little veil and bouquet of flowers to the bride and a bow tie and little flower to the groom. It was a bit fiddly to do but still quite fun to alter an existing design of something! I wish I had had a more nice lacey material to hand to make the bride's veil from, but oh well, I know for next time!

I have a bunch of cuddly toy hearts in my Etsy shop if anyone is interested in purchasing any! They come all gift wrapped with a nice little bow and a blank gift tag to write your own message on! I believe it would be a nice little gift for a loved one this Crimbo...

Star Wars Christmas is a comin'!

They're here! They're finally here! As I mentioned a few months ago I have been working on a set of funny Star Wars Christmas cards, putting the iconic characters of Star Wars in some festive situations. And they are done! Hooray!
Phew, it was a lot of hard work I tell ya, but I'm very happy with the final designs, so without further ado!

These cards are available to buy individually in my Etsy shop along with lots of other nifty stuff. If you would like to purchase a whole set of cards then please feel free to message me privately on Etsy and I will set up a custom order for you with a discounted price!

The Snowflake Trail 2015 Design Attempts

I recently submitted a couple of designs to the Liverpool Snowflake Trail 2015
Artists were called to send in their designs for what they thought would look nifty on 1.5m fibreglass sculpture of (you guessed it) a snowflake. 12 of these designs were picked to become a reality and are going to be dotted around Liverpool city centre over the Christmas period for people to find and spot!
Unfortunately my designs didn't make the cut to the final 12 snowflake sculptures which was a bit disappointing, but I thought I would share my designs on here! So here you go:

Back to Draw the Future!

I was very kindly invited by Thunder Chunky to take part in their project Back to Draw the Future to mark the date that Marty McFly travelled to the future with the Doc in Back to the Future II. A bunch of designers and illustrators were asked to illustrate a randomly selected character from the 2015 portion of the film, and I got me the Hover Board Girls, so here they are:

We all had to make the illustration to a specific size and colour palette. I had a lot of fun with it!
I did play around with a slightly more garish and bright version...

And with doing rainbow-y lightening bolts on a black background (but I quickly got tired of that plan, as you can see...)

So there we go, you can see all the other illustrations over at the website: Back to Draw the Future and you can even make a donation to the Michael J.Fox Foundation whilst you're there.

Climbing Club Logo Design

I recently did a bit of logo design for Edge Hill Uni's Climbing and Mountaineering Club.
I whipped up a few different options for them, and here they are:

My personal favourite is the Hardcore Mountain Goat - I was going for a sort of well 'ard biker jacket design type thing here.

Woah? Is this how long the blog post is? Yes, yes it is. See you soon! :)

Monkey Madness Concept Sketches

A month or so ago, I had the opportunity to sort of 'pitch' my work to a company by answering a practice brief. The brief was to create some concept sketches of a sculpture that would be interacted with by the public - a monkey holding a pair of cymbals. The idea being that members of the public could stand inbetween the cymbals and have their photo taken.

So here are my initial doodles:

I chose 3 of my favourite ideas to explain further:

And then my final idea worked up a bit more:

I think my recent trip to DisneyWorld may have inspired me with incorporating the watery prank element to the sculpture!

Star Wars Christmas Cards - In the Making

I have been toiling away the past few weeks on a set of new sci-fi cards that I want to introduce to my Etsy shop this winter (as well as a few other products), and I've finally nearly finished them! Here are a few Work In Progress shots - see if you can guess what world famous sci-fi film they're based from...
